Co-founder Amanda Gomes — a master colourist with 12 years of experience and nearly a decade as Salon Director at BBlunt Juhu — leads all colour services personally.

Why Hair Colour on Indian Hair Requires Specialist Skill
Indian hair — particularly dark, coarse, or thick hair — presents challenges that stylists trained primarily on European hair textures may not be equipped for. The high melanin content means hair can be resistant to lifting, and the colour journey from natural black or dark brown to lighter shades requires multiple carefully managed sessions.
Going to a non-specialist risks banding (uneven colour breaks), excessive damage from over-processing, or a final result far removed from what you asked for.

Every colour appointment at Amavi begins with a thorough consultation. We look at:
- Your natural depth and current condition
- Your colour history (previous dye, bleach, relaxers, keratin)
- The result you want — and what's achievable safely in one session vs. over time
- Your maintenance preferences and lifestyle
We're always honest. If your goal requires two sessions to achieve safely, we'll tell you that upfront rather than over-promise and damage your hair to meet an unrealistic expectation in one appointment.

Colour-treated hair needs specific care to stay vibrant and healthy. After your appointment, we recommend:
- Colour-safe, sulphate-free shampoo — sulphates strip colour quickly
- Weekly deep conditioning — coloured hair needs more moisture than natural hair
- Heat protection every time — before every blow-dry, straighten, or curl
- Toning appointments every 6–8 weeks — to neutralise brassiness between colour sessions
- UV protection — sun exposure fades colour fast; a UV-protect spray or hat helps outdoors
How Often Should You Colour Your Hair?
It depends on the service:
- Global colour / root touch-ups — every 4–6 weeks for full coverage
- Balayage — every 3–5 months (one of its biggest selling points)
- Highlights — every 6–8 weeks
- Toning — every 6–8 weeks to keep blonde and lightened shades fresh
